Recently, I decided to bring in more Firefox Student Ambassadors into the core team of the Firefox Club Cummins in order to get the required help for expanding our club and its activities at a faster rate. A recruitment process was held in which the interested students had to first apply through a short application form followed by a quick interview with the shortlisted students. It was a fun process and also the fun was in the fact that there were so many excited and talented students over there. The positions were as follows:
- Communications Lead
- Events Lead
- Developer Relations Lead
- Marketing Lead
- Web Education Lead
For each position, two students were selected.
The Communications Lead’s role is to maintain Club’s online presence, Liaison with Mozilla Communication and social media team, Draft advertisements for ‘How to Get Involved’ in our Firefox Club and advertise club’s events. The events lead crafts events plan for the club for each semester, Reports back on event results and successes, Follows-up with event attendees, Drives the organization of any campaigns that continue through the semester. The Developer Relations Lead is in charge of setting up tech-related contests and activities including App of the Month contest, Other technical stuff in the club activities.The Marketing Lead is the Manager of all FSA social media channels including blog, Twitter, Google+, and Youtube, In charge of tweeting, posting, and sharing on them. The Web Education Lead Spreads awareness of Webmaker and its tools ,Has knowledge of html, css, js.
Then we conducted an IRC meet with all of them and they were explained their roles and responsibilities, and how together we have to make this a success. They were told to ask doubts if any and the questions were answered. Also, we formed a WhatsApp group 😛 where we keep discussing new ideas that pop into our minds as and when they do!
We have already planned to have an event on around 15th March in college. The new team consists of all super enthusiastic members excited to start rolling and is a perfect team! 😀 Together, we are going to be the most active club and we’re absolutely going to rock!!!
